Angel on the Line
A novel by Vesper
The premise
Clara Rourke has come home to Marlow Springs, Georgia, to look after a father whose memory is leaving the house one room at a time, and at two in the morning, in a parsonage that remembers everything she would rather forget, she turns on an old radio. A station she has not heard in more than twenty years is still on the air, and so, somewhere behind the microphone, is a voice she once knew by heart.
This is a slow-burn love story of memory, faith and silence, sensual and never explicit, patient with what people leave unsaid and unafraid of how much heat a held breath can carry. It is told in alternating voices, hers and his, and all twelve chapters arrive together on Sunday, November 1. Read it late, with the lamp low.
